When Lalit and Veena Parmar recently retired from their newsagent business they wanted their shop to continue to serve the community as it had done for many years.
They offered the people of Chinley the chance to start a low waste community shop selling whole foods and eco-friendly products.
We hope the shop will also become a community hub for selling local products and exchanging surplus food such as extra fruit and veg from the allotment.
The shop is being set up as a Community Benefit Society by a group of core members, please do get in contact if you want to become involved as a core member.
Most of all though we need customers and members. To be a member you need to purchase a share for £10 and this gives you a vote on the way the coop is run.
Right now we are working our way through the legal and financial necessities for starting a community benefit society but soon we will be asking for advice from you about the sort of products you would like to buy.
