Thursday 15th August 7pm
(Doors open 6.30pm)
WI Hall, Lower Lane Chinley
James Pogson, director of Northern Tea Merchants, will talk about the ‘human’
aspect of tea, its social effects in the communities that produce it, and the physical
manufacture of tea up to the point where the tea is ready to leave Kenya ready for export to tea blending and packing companies the world over.

James is the 3rd generation of his family to work in the tea business and his family has run Northern Tea Merchants in Chesterfield since 1959. James has a strong interest in understanding the ‘true cost’ of food. He sources and tastes every one of their teas and coffees, traveling regularly to plantations around the world.

(James’ talk will immediately follow the Chinley Coop AGM. Afterwards refreshments will be served, including tea, and Chinley Coop will be open)
